Name Herbert Hirche executive rosewood desk
Ref. F189
Editor Christian Holzäpfel KG, Germany 1967
Description Herbert Hirche was a German architect and designer who after studying at the Bauhaus in Dessau worked in the office of Mies van der Rohe among others before designing furniture and objects for different european manufacturers.

This highly exclusive desk with its almost futuristic lines combines a large rectangular top in beautiful rosewood with a base composed of two heavy cast aluminium wing shaped feet.

The thick rosewood top boasts three additional thin drawers hidden on both sides and were designed to hold a writing machine or the pens of the owner.

The big two drawer chest with sculpted aluminium handles gives the impression of floating under the top and adds to the elegance of this writing desk.

This is certainly one of the most beautiful and outstandingly crafted executive writing desks ever made and and only a handful have been produced.

The rosewood version is even rarer than the already rare teak version.
